A warm winter welcome to Merivale!

He mihi tēnei i raro i te mana ngatahi o Ngāti Ruahine me Ngai Tamarawaho, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa.

Tutarawananga is the Māori name for our area. It is named for a wānanga founded by Tamatea Arikinui on the banks of the Waimapu river. Our area was a renowned school of learning, a navigation point, and a food gathering area. Merivale is a suburb located 5 kilometres from Tauranga’s downtown centre. It lies on the edge of the Waimapu Estuary.
